Substance Use Disorder Services
Dedicated To The Recovery of People Suffering From Addiction.
What Is Grace House?
At Grace House, we’ll work with you to create a recovery plan tailored just for you. If you’re ready to take control of your recovery from drug or alcohol addiction, Grace House is here to support you. We’re the only residential program in Cayuga County designed to help you build a healthier life.
At Grace House, you’ll find a daily, structured routine that keeps you active and engaged, and get help finding a job or continuing your education.
You will participate in group therapy, meal preparation, house upkeep, and volunteer opportunities. Parenting classes and family reunification support are available, as well as connections to outpatient treatment and mental health services.
Our programs are certified by New York State’s Office of Addiction Supports and Services (OASAS).
Here’s how it works:
- Halfway House
You’ll begin in a supportive, co-ed home with up to 15 others. Over 6 to 9 months, you’ll build your recovery in a safe, structured environment with counseling, community volunteering, therapy, education, and employment support.
- Supportive Living Facility (SLF)
When you’re ready, you’ll move into your own apartment with minimal supervision. You’ll keep working on recovery with help for work, education, parenting, therapy, and staying connected to the community. We’re dedicated to helping you stay connected to family. Young children may be allowed to live with you or visit.
- Moving Forward
Once you complete the program, you’ll get help setting up housing so you can live independently and thrive in your community.
Minimum stays are 4 months in the halfway house and 6 months in supportive living.

Safe, Heard, and Empowered: Heather's Story

At 13, Heather Gansert was given her first drink. That same year, she was introduced to drugs and was raped at a party. What followed was 34 years of addiction, abuse, and survival. She lost herself in substances, endured daily violence, and nearly died at the hands of an abusive boyfriend.
But that’s not where her story ends.
With the help of Unity House, Heather began to heal, reclaim her life, and reconnect with the one person she cared about most: her 26-year-old son.
