Concerns about federal funding freeze

Dear everyone,

As you probably know, the federal Office of Management and Budget issued a memorandum yesterday that orders a “temporary pause of agency grant, loan and other financial assistance programs.” While the order was vague, and while it has since been temporarily blocked by a federal judge, we are concerned. Since much of the funding for our work comes through government sources, this order could hamper our ability to deliver on our mission.

We are in close contact with state officials and with coalitions of nonprofits to ensure that we have the latest information. To date, it does not appear that the federal order has halted any of the government funding sources that the people we support rely on. If that changes, or if there are other significant developments, I promise to update you.

We know you share our dedication to empowering people with disabilities, including those in recovery, coping with a mental illness and/or diagnosed with a developmental disability. In uncertain times like these, I’m grateful for you and your continued support.

Sincerely,

Liz Smith
