Action Needed to Prevent Medicaid Cuts
Dear Friends of Unity House,
The U.S. House of Representatives may be voting as soon as today on a proposal that would cut vital care for the people Unity House supports – those with developmental disabilities as well as those recovering from substance abuse disorder and other mental illnesses. Congressional leaders are searching for ways to cut $1.5 trillion in federal spending over the next decade – with cuts to federal Medicaid funding expected to be roughly half of the total amount.
Nearly all of the people Unity House supports rely on Medicaid to pay for housing, medical care, therapy and training. If the proposed cuts were to be approved, all of those supports, and Unity House itself, could be in jeopardy.
I urge you to reach out to your representative in Congress TODAY to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors don’t lose the support they need to survive and thrive. You can call the U.S. House at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your representative by name. You can also send electronic messages. The links below will take you to quick-fill forms hosted by:
- ANCOR, a national organization that advances support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities:
- National Alliance on Mental Illness:
We know you share our dedication to empowering people with disabilities. In uncertain times like these, I’m grateful for you and your continued support.
Sincerely,
