You put food on the table for people with disabilities

Every month, federal SNAP benefits pay for $30,000 in food for people with disabilities who live in Unity House residences. When the recent government shutdown put those benefits on hold, Unity House supporters responded.

In less than a week, 19 people made more than $2,300 in gifts.

We would never allow the people we support to go hungry, so we’re incredibly grateful to all who did their part to fill the gap.

The reopening of the federal government didn’t end food insecurity for people with disabilities. The federal budget passed for 2026 cuts SNAP benefits by 15%. As a result, Unity House will need an additional $4,500 each month to feed our residents.

If you’d like your Unity House gift to help ensure that nobody with disabilities goes hungry, please make a monthly gift today to help feed our residents at unityhouse.org/snap. Your ongoing support will put food on the table every day of the year.
