How to save on taxes while supporting Unity House

Your generosity empowers people with disabilities at Unity House. As we approach the end of 2025, I want to make sure you know of three ways to support Unity House’s mission that could also shrink your tax bill.

1) If you have appreciated securities, you can direct them to Unity House at year-end to avoid capital gains taxes and other expenses. You’ll receive a tax deduction for the full, current fair market value.

2) If you have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and are at least 70½ years old, you can use the IRA to make a gift directly to Unity House without paying taxes on it. It’s called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), and it counts toward any required minimum distribution. Directions for making a QCD are below.

3) If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), you can use it to give easily through our DAF tool located here. This holiday season, please consider Unity House as you look to lower your tax liability while supporting charities that align with your values. Every gift you make leads to a new Story of Hope.  If you need help with any of this, please just give me a call at 315-253-6227 ext. 360 or reply to this email.

With gratitude,
