We Asked, You Answered

Over the winter, Unity House put out calls for your advocacy. Thank you for responding.

Non-profits across New York State urged legislators to increase funding in the 2025-26 state budget by 7.8% to support people with disabilities.

Together, we advocated for inflationary increases, rate reform, and DSP wage enhancement. The
budget has now passed, and 2.6% was allotted.

“While we’re disappointed that more was not allocated, this increase will help Unity House provide better services,” said COO Darlene Podolak.

“The state offices that oversee our work will adjust and increase our rates and contracts by 2.6%. These funds will allow us the flexibility to address our biggest priorities: staff wages and the cost of doing business.”
